Request for Proposal: Coordinator for our Bilateral Forums - ME 2.0 & TICSF

Brief Project Overview:

The Jerusalem office of Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF Jerusalem) needs a coordinator that can coordinate, manage and moderate two projects of FNF, namely the MIDDLE EAST 2.0 –Palestinian Israeli Young Business Leaders Forum and the Turkish-Israeli Civil Society Forum (TICSF - https://www.ticsf.org/).

Who we are

With a unique Israeli-Palestinian team, FNF Jerusalem aims to be a platform of innovation for enhancing freedom in society, strengthening dialogue with the EU and contribute to the advancement of Israeli-Palestinian dialogue leading towards peace. Together with our partners, we want to strengthen liberal values like the rule of law and democracy, the respect of human dignity with civil and human rights, market economy principles and entrepreneurship and a democratic culture of tolerance and pluralism.

Project Goals and Target Audience

ME 2.0 Forum: Since October 7th, 2023, we have witnessed a dramatically deterioration of Palestinian-Israeli relations. Against this backdrop, we are looking for a coordinator with conflict management background and skills, in order to strengthen and maintain our bilateral community of the ME 2.0 Forum. The coordinator and facilitator will be responsible to conceptualize organize, manage and moderate a minimum of 4 networking events over the year, which should serve to strengthen and inspire our network of Israeli and Palestinian Young Business Leaders.

TICSF: October 7th has also strained Turkish-Israeli relations. In order to prevent Israeli-Turkish relations from further deteriorating, we are looking for a coordinator and facilitator to enhance cooperation and engagement of the civil society of both countries. After three cohorts of our Influencers for Dialogue Program we plan to build a network of IFD Alumni, in order to further connect young leaders from both countries, engage them in cross-cultural dialogue and to enhance their conflict resolution skills by the means of a comprehensive training course. In addition the coordinator shall see to improve the website of TICSF to become more attractive.

Scope of Work and Deliverables

ME 2.0 Forum: We need a service provider that can:

  1. Maintain the forum’s website
  2. Facilitate sensitive discussions between Israeli and Palestinian young business leaders.
  3. Organize and manage a series of events (a minimum of 4) for the Israeli and Palestinian Young Business Leaders. The series of events should focus on trust building within the community and touch upon relevant topics for the bilateral entrepreneurship group such as new and important economic trends and developments in the region, critical geopolitical developments, hurdles to bilateral economic cooperation, upgrade networking  etc. and should include following formats:
  • Two trust building zoom events (1.5. h)
  • Two physical sessions of 2.5 hours for knowledge building, networking and value debate and ideation and self-presentation of members.
  • Possibly in addition one half day study tour within Israel to a relevant destination for the group

The coordinator needs to identify new members and design the events in a way to strengthen the community and activate them for liberal value discussions on improving cooperation and concrete solutions, while considering conflict related sensitivities.

The coordinator needs to write final reports of the different activities.

TICSF:  we need a service provider that can:

  1. Organize  and facilitate a minimum of one online meeting of the Israeli and Turkish core group (Israeli and Turkish experts on Israeli-Turkish relations) to discuss the current situation and to brainstorm about what would be possible for the Forum to do while the war is still ongoing and

in its aftermath. The facilitator should also present the suggested IFD alumni program.

  1. Building the IFD Alumni young leaders’ network including a series of five meetings (4 bilateral online meetings and one physical unilateral meeting in the period between May-June) including social activities, discussions about the situation and a professional conflict resolution training. The conflict resolution training should teach knowledge and skills of conflict resolution and facilitation of people to people dialogue.

Content and Tasks of conflict resolution training:

  • Conflict resolution principles and their application to the online conversations.
  • How to create the infrastructure to people-people dialogue processes online.
  • How to facilitate difficult online conversations.
  • Principles in "digital leadership" for online facilitators.
  • Addressing conspiracy theories and fake news.
     

The service provider should be:

Moderating the meetings and leading discussions, ice breakers and other relevant content

In continuous communication with participants via mail and whatsapp

Teaching a conflict resolution training course (see above)

Writing the final project report

Maintaining and managing the TICSF social media platforms (website/facebook/twitter) during the year with relevant content.

The service provider has to coordinate all events in close cooperation with FNF Jerusalem and in the case of TICSF also with FNF Istanbul. The service includes report writing on each activity.

We expect you to send a proposal including price offers for the coordination of:

Per

  1. Ongoing maintenance of the forum’s website
  2. Two zoom events (1.5. h)
  3. Two physical sessions of 2.5 hours for knowledge building, networking and value debate and ideation and self-presentation of members.
  4. One half day study tour

  3. Ongoing management of the TICSF social media Facebook and Twitter accounts.
