From COP22 to COP27: Solidarity and Actions
On December 6th, 2022, and for four days, the Al Hurriya Liberal Network (AHLN), a network that FNF supports in the MENA, kicked off its second General Assembly and third Climate Change seminar entitled "From COP22 to COP27: Solidarity and Actions" in Beirut, Lebanon.
The event aimed to raise awareness and adopt liberal climate-friendly behaviors to address global warming.The participants in the environment seminar were from different backgrounds related to the topic. They represented several stakeholders such as environmental experts, liberal political party members from the MENA region, high-ranking officials, members of parliament, and civil society activists from the region to discuss several topics: climate change affecting women, climate change and sustainable development, and climate change and human rights.
For the AHLN General Assembly, AHLN members discussed their strategy, future objectives, and 2023 plan. Moreover, there was a session for the new applicants to present their political parties and CSOs. At the end of the GA, AHLN accepted two applicants as observing members: Ahrar Syria (political party) and AJA from Morocco (CSO), where the members of AHLN became six members from five countries: Morocco, Lebanon, Tunisia, Egypt, and Syria.
