FNF-CLA International Conference on Corporate Innovation on HR and Organization
On the 23rd of October, 2020, the Friedrich Naumann Foundation Korea, along with its close partner Center for Local Autonomy at Hanyang University, the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation, and the Korean-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry, hosted an international conference on “Corporate Innovation on HR and Organization in the Era of the 4th Industrial Revolution”. While this event was solely online due to COVID-19 restrictions, there was an audience joining us from YouTube Live.
In the opening session, Dr. Christian Taaks, Head of the FNF Korea office, along with Barbara Zollmann, President of the Korean-German Chamber of Commerce made their welcoming remarks about the evolving society and the challenges and opportunities of the 4th Industrial Revolution.
Session one’s theme was “Smart Organizational Innovation and Structure”. Speaking first was Peter Tiedemann, who is the President and Representative Director of Carl Zeiss Co. Ltd Korea. His presentation focused on Industry 4.0 & Innovation for People, HR System, and Corporate Culture. Applying this information to the current state, Professor Martin Hemmert of Korea University spoke about the up and coming start-up entrepreneurship in East Asia. To round out the session, a panel of 5 professionals discussed the issue at hand giving and receiving questions and answers.
Session two was about “Efficient Personnel Management”. Hanyang University’s Professor Jeon Sang-gil taught the audience some of his expertise by demonstrating how to enhance strategies of competitive for innovation companies. The last presentation was a pre-recorded video from Professor Vias Nicolaides who used real-life examples to show how to manage for innovation. It followed an interesting discussion with Korean CEOs of different companies.
All in all, the conference was a great success. The participants shared best practices, discussed the common challenges, and suggested some liberal solutions to better harness the revolutionary digital transformation.
