FNF Vietnam Partner Training 2024: Collaboration and AI for the Future
This year, the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF) Vietnam hosted its Partner Training 2024 from November 20–21 at the Mövenpick Hotel Hanoi Centre, gathering 35 participants from various organizations to strengthen partnerships and explore the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in modern society. Taking place during Hanoi’s beautiful November season, the event combined professional discussions with moments of reflection and collaboration.
A Gathering of Experts and Partners
The event brought together representatives from various FNF Vietnam’s partners, including universities, research institutes, and government organizations. Participants from Foreign Trade University (FTU), University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), and Vietnam-German University (VGU) represented the academic sector.
Research institutes such as the Vietnam Institute for Economic and Policy Research (VEPR), the Institute of Psychology, and the Institute of Social Sciences Information (ISSI) under the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS) contributed their expertise.
Governmental and civil society organizations, including the Yen Bai Women Union, the National Registration Agency for Transactions (NRAT) under the Ministry of Justice, Can Tho Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO), Centre for Women and Development (CWD), and Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), also participated. This diverse group reflected FNF’s extensive network of partnerships across Vietnam.
Highlights from the Event
The first day began with introductions and a pivotal session led by the Head of FNF Vietnam, Mrs. Vanessa Steinmetz, on FNF’s goals and strategies for 2026. Mrs. Steinmetz outlined FNF’s vision for promoting free trade, empowering women, promoting sustainable development, and strengthening the rule of law. She emphasized how these strategic pillars align with FNF’s mission to promote freedom, democracy, and innovation globally.
This presentation was crucial for guiding partners in aligning their projects with FNF’s mission. It provided a clear roadmap for future collaboration and encouraged partners to integrate these priorities into their initiatives, ensuring stronger, more impactful partnerships.
A key session led by IAF Alumni active member, Prof. Nguyen Huu Huan from UEH followed, focusing on: “Artificial Intelligence and Society: The Impact of AI on Society, Ethics, and Responsibility.” This presentation delved into the ethical challenges of AI development and its societal impacts, urging participants to consider responsible innovation.
The day concluded with a networking dinner, where participants exchanged ideas in a relaxed and inspiring setting.
The second day began with key updates on FNF Vietnam’s programs, financial status, and reflections on the experiences and challenges encountered during project implementation in 2024. This was followed by an insightful session led by Prof. Nguyen Huu Huan, who presented a series of AI-based solutions tailored for researchers and project managers. His session focused on practical technology applications designed to enhance work efficiency and streamline project workflows.
The training concluded with a dynamic discussion and feedback session, providing participants with the opportunity to share ideas for activities in 2025, develop next year programs, as well as plans for incorporating AI into their work.

The FNF Partner Training 2024 was more than just a workshop, it served as a vital platform for partners to connect, share knowledge, and align their initiatives with FNF’s strategic vision. The presentations by FNF Vietnam’s leader and team played a pivotal role in shaping future collaborations, ensuring that all efforts contribute meaningfully to the shared mission of advancing economic development in Vietnam.
Set against the backdrop of Hanoi’s most picturesque season, the event marked an important milestone in strengthening partnerships and fostering innovative solutions for project management. It underscored the collective commitment of FNF Vietnam and its partners to building a more sustainable partnership together.
