About 30 participants attended this highly successful training tackling the subject of how to thrive in journalism in this new age of technology and an increasingly video-oriented news audience. The training took place on 29 March in Ankara.

The reporters who attended included journalists from various outlets, including the state-owned Anatolia News Agency. The session was highly interactive, with trainers Kenan Dursun and Şevket Uyanık giving a detailed presentation on the history of the internet, changing user behavior and the chronology of developments concerning digital security, which is of primary concern to journalists both for their own security and for their sources. Many useful tools were introduced along with good tools especially for journalists who open their own “shop” in this age of increasing freelancing and fewer and fewer established media outlets that employ journalists on a full-time basis.

The event took place at the Uğur Mumcu Journalism Foundation (UMAG), a first-time partner both for MLSA and FNST. The audience was also introduced to FNST- MLSA’s Justice Monitoring Programme and were encouraged to participate as trial monitors.
