Policy Talks: The Economic Crisis and the New Economic Program

Freedom Research Association (FRA) organized a meeting entitled “Economic Crisis and New Economic Program” with the support of Friedrich Naumann Foundation – Turkey Office on February 1. In the meeting, the economic problems in Turkey were analyzed, and suggestions and opinions were shared on whether or not the New Economic Plan (NEP) will solve the problems of Turkey’s economy. Almost 40 participants from different NGO’s, representatives from political parties and journalists were among the participants.

In the first session of the meeting, the New Economic Program was evaluated by Ibrahim Enes Ozkan who is a member of the FRA. Afterward, Dr. Nesrin Nas suggested how to overcome the current crises. In her speech, Dr. Nas emphasized that to overcome the economic problems, Turkey should focus on the human rights, democracy and the rule of law principle more than ever and need to build an efficient checks and balances system.
