The Friedrich Naumann Foundation Beirut Office is focused on Lebanon and its people. Regional and local turmoil makes the work of the foundation in this country challenging, forcing our office in Beirut to constantly adapt to new social and political changes. In Lebanon, our main objective is to support Lebanese start-ups, civil society organisations and liberal political parties while raising awareness about political education, female empowerment and durable development.

A Time of Crisis - Economic Dilemma in Lebanon and its Impact on Refugees
After the war in Syria in 2011, many Syrians sought refuge in Lebanon to escape persecution or forced military conscription. However, the crisis in Lebanon affected all sectors of society, including refugees. Today, 9 out of 10 Syrian refugees are under the poverty line and require humanitarian assistance to meet their basic needs.

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Finance Assistant.

Model Youth Parliament
On March 25 at 6:22 PM local time, it finally happened: the “Speaker of the Youth Parliament” announced that the 22-year-old “Karim Zgheib” had been elected as Lebanon’s 14th president in the third round of voting. It was a close contest with his main rival, “Cesar Khreish”, narrowly losing by just a few votes.

The Dragging of Rights
The film addresses the increasing repression against the LGBTQI+ community. It was produced in Beirut and is about two drag queens. It follows them and tells about the daily struggles they face in Lebanon.
