Ukraine: Fighting Corruption at the Local Level

Corruption is one of the main problems in today’s Ukrainian society. It exists on every level of public administration and is also present in everyday life. In Ukraine, fighting corruption is not very efficient and not a systematic course of action. Anti-corruption initiatives have not yet resulted in a restructuring or key process overhaul. Often, corruption is used as a battle cry or to discredit opponents or the government.

Against the background of corruption in Ukraine, the Centre of Political Studies and Analysis (CPSA) with the support of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom organised a seminar titled “Anti-Corruption on Local Level”. From 12-14 September 2014 about 30 members of parties, NGOs and employees of public administration met in Ivano-Frankivsk to enhance their knowledge regarding effective anti-corruption efforts and tools.
